RESILIENCE: An empirical analysis of the resilience of agricultural farms

This project investigates the resilience of Swiss farms by developing and applying a comprehensive set of indicators derived from production theory and resilience science. Using farm-level data from the Swiss Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), these indicators quantify robustness, adaptability, and transformability, assessing how farms withstand uncertainties such as climate events, economic shocks, and policy changes. The study explores how farms with different operations, such as crop and dairy, build resilience in distinct ways. The results aim to inform targeted policy measures, including risk management tools, performance-based subsidies, and advisory services, to support the long-term sustainability of Swiss agriculture.
