With around 50 Freiberger stallions owned by the federal government and stationed at covering stations throughout Switzerland, as well as an extensive frozen semen storage facility, the SNSF contributes to the promotion of the breed and the preservation of genetic diversity in horses. The SNSF also supports horse breeding in Switzerland in breeding-related matters and, thanks to the available infrastructure in Avenches, also contributes in the fields of reproduction and events.
