CLARISSA: Climate change scenarios for the assessment of risks and suitability in Swiss agricultural production

The availability of the new climate scenarios for Switzerland (CH2025) makes it necessary to update the scientific baseline that support several of the research activities proposed for the new Work Programme of Agroscope. The overarching goal of the CLARISSA project (CLimate change scenarios for the Assessment of RIsks and Suitability in Swiss Agriculture) is to acquire key products of CH2025, develop recommendations for the processing and use of the scenarios, and update previous assessments of the risks associated with extreme weather events and of the opportunities for the agricultural sector arising from climate change. In response to a request by the Federal Office of Agriculture, the project proposes an update of the climate suitability map for crops and forage production employing methods developed in the past at Agroscope. In summary, CLARISSA generates customized information for Agroscope's researchers and improved knowledge to support decision-making in the aricultural sector and adpation of the agricultural practice.
