DynaCrops: Developing, testing and implementing novel crop breeding techniques
The main aim of this project is to test the potential of novel breeding technologies on crops that are of importance to Swiss agriculture in real-world applications. A major part of this project is funded by the National Research Program 84 (NRP84), in the frame of the CRISPS project. In this project, in collaboration with international partners in Sweden (SLU) and the Netherlands (WUR), we aim to produce disease- and drought-tolerant potato lines derived from varieties that are commonly used in Swiss agriculture. In this project, the lines will be created will be tested in GM field trials in Switzerland, The Netherlands and Sweden. This will support the planned establishment of an in vitro lab with capabilities for NBT applications. Finally, further research will be done on a novel crop breeding method and applied to wheat and potato.
