We here presented the Agroscope (AGS) - Apple physiology dataset. This dataset includes 7 subsets from apple orchards in Switzerland at 3 different locations between 2020 and 2024. They characterise the usage of water by apples trees by means of multiple sensors, as water status proxies. The goal of such measurements was to either reduce irrigation water usage or to help plant breeders to select more resisting to hydric stress varieties. With these goals in mind, mostly continuous time series of different sensors were recorded across multiple experiments. The said sensors include dendrometers for stem radius variation measurements (Δ sr), sap-flow sensors for transpiration measurements (Q L) and microtensiometers for trunk water potential measurements (ψ trunk). Using additional water status proxies, such as stem water potential (ψ stem) and stomatal conductance (g s), daily curves of point, measurements or mid-day point measurements supported the previously mentioned measurements. Such measurements were done especially in periods of high hydric demand or stress. Each of the subsets is paired with its respectively weather conditions and metadata from the experiments and used trees. We present the data, which can be found in Zenodo.org, and further discuss the limitation of such a dataset, hoping that its publication helps others on the field of plant physiology modelling.
