AMOWS: Methoden, Parameter und Prozesse vom Rebberg bis zur Flasche von Schweizer Weinen

The Project AMOWS is part of Agroscope's ongoing efforts to provide high quality data and analytical parameters for wine-growing and oenological subsidiaries. It supports the work made in field and cellar throughout the whole harvesting and winemaking process. It adapts analytical methods to new challenges concerning sustainable agricultural practices, innovating grape transformations or wine making/aging, changes in consumers’ preferences, labelling requirements and legal limits of residues in wines. It develops analytical methods finding precursors and chemical markers aimed at a better characterization from vine to wine, from new grapes varieties to final white and red Swiss wines. Data accumulated over more than 25 years in collaboration with winegrowers and vineries, following the same samples from grapes to bottle, is unique in European wine Research, and constitutes a treasure of historical data that can be exploited in combination with local weather and topological data to explore the possible effect of climate change in grapes and wine composition.
