SoyBreed: Züchtung von Schweizer Sojasorten
The Swiss Soybean Breeding project (SoyBreed) aims to develop high-yielding, resilient soybean varieties adapted to sustainable agriculture, climate change, and healthy food needs. Agroscope focuses on improving yield, tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses, and seed quality for food and feed (protein content, taste, processability). In order to achieve this, the present project is organized into three work packages to improve the breeding scheme, optimize breeding criteria, and integrate cutting-edge tools like genomic selection and speed breeding. In the frame of the EU Legume Generation project to which we contribute, SoyBreed enhances agronomic performance and food-grade qualities of Swiss soybean varieties, which are recognized nationally and internationally. Finally, the joint collaborative program with the company Delley Seeds and Plants (DSP) ensures maintenance and commercial development of the Swiss Soybean varieties breed within the Soybreed project.
