EcoPest: Wirtschaftliche Perspektiven zum Pflanzenschutz in der Schweizer Landwirtschaft

Pests and diseases pose significant risks to agricultural production, making pest management crucial for farm economic sustainability and food security. While pesticides are key to pest control, they also have negative environmental and health impacts. In response, policymakers have set ambitious pesticide reduction targets, such as Switzerland’s goal to reduce pesticide risk by 50% by 2027. However, these policies raise concerns about economic sustainability among farmers. This project, part of the working program, aims to examine the economic implications, including adoption decisions, of alternative technologies and policies designed to reduce pesticide use. The findings will provide insights into balancing sustainability goals with farm economic viability.
