VitiResist: Züchtung von Rebsorten zur Erhaltung und zur Nutzung der klonalen Biodiversität

Ensuring the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of Swiss viticulture requires the development of grape varieties adapted to local conditions. Swiss vineyards face high disease pressure, production costs, and consumer demands for quality and ecological standards. Agroscope's research integrates genetics, agronomy, and oenology to breed disease-resistant grape varieties, reducing the need for phytosanitary treatments. Since 1996, breeding efforts have led to the release of multi-resistant varieties, including Divico (2013) and Divona (2018), with new cultivars expected by 2035 through collaborations with INRAE Colmar and Swiss cantons. Clonal selection preserves the biodiversity of indigenous varieties, supporting sustainable viticulture and providing high-quality planting material. Agroscope maintains extensive genetic repositories and ensures virus-free plant material through the Swiss certification system, contributing to the resilience of Swiss viticulture.
