SustaVeg: Nachhaltige Gemüseproduktion durch Wissen zu Krankheiten
The SUSTAVEG project aims to strengthen sustainable vegetable production in Switzerland by building an integrated monitoring and research network for plant diseases. Driven by the needs of vegetable growers and extension services, the project fosters close collaboration between Agroscope’s vegetable extension group and the mycology group in Changins, while drawing on input from cantonal offices and the “Forum Forschung Gemüsebau.” This interdisciplinary effort links practical field monitoring with laboratory-based pathogen detection, epidemiological studies, and the development of disease management strategies. Thus, SUSTAVEG directly addresses critical aspects of plant protection in vegetable production, such as understanding pathogen biology, advancing monitoring and early detection systems and the development of integrated production strategies.
