EmiRed: Bewertung von Massnahmen zur Reduktion von Ammoniak- und Treibhausgasemissionen aus der Rinderhaltung

The aim of project EmiRed is to evaluate measures such as feeding strategies, as well as structural, technical and organisational measures, to reduce NH₃ and GHG emissions in dairy farming. Feeding strategies will be investigated on a practical scale at the individual animal level using GreenFeeds (CH₄) and at full scale in the experimental dairy housing for emission measurements (EVS), using a case-control approach (CH₄, NH₃, CO₂). Structural, technical and organisational measures will also be quantified at full scale in the EVS. In addition to emission values, climate data, animal performance, animal welfare parameters, technical-engineering aspects, areas' soiling, costs, workload data, etc. will be investigated. This will enable a holistic, system-oriented evaluation. Synthesising previous EVS measurement data will demonstrate the impact of various factors and parameters on NH₃ and CH₄ emissions. Based on EVS measurements, annual emission values will be calculated for emission inventories and governmental mitigation strategies to meet environmental targets. The project also includes a work package to develop, validate and optimise selected measuring and modelling methods.
