ProNAT: Prospektive Nachhaltigkeit von landwirtschaftlichen Produkten mit oder ohne neue Antriebsarten und Technologien
Agriculture is increasingly adopting innovative technologies like electric tractors, photovoltaics, and autonomous sensors. While machines become more efficient and renewable N-fertilizer methods emerge, their environmental, social, and economic impacts remain unclear. Life cycle assessment (LCA) evaluates environmental sustainability including greenhouse gas emissions, with prospective LCA considering future changes. This method needs adaptation to agriculture. On the other hand, social and economic assessments lack standard methods, especially for prospective evaluations. The ProNAT project will extend the sustainability assessment method developed in the previous working programme by better including future trends and stakeholder views. ProNAT will assess Swiss agriculture’s sustainability today and in the future by evaluating promising technologies in this context. The method developed in the project will be applicable to further sustainability assessments of new technologies.
