Neue landwirtschaftliche Praktiken im Kontext der Klimavulnerabilität der Landwirtschaft im Jura und im Berner Jura dank des Ansatzes der «Climate-Smart Agriculture»
Climate change is having an increasing impact on farms in the Jura region, particularly in terms of summer droughts. Changes to crop and livestock farming practices, as well as improvements to rainwater storage capacity, may offer potential adaptation solutions. The main objective of the project is to adapt agricultural practices to optimise food production in the Jura and the Bernese Jura, against a backdrop of summer water scarcity and disrupted rainfall patterns. Proposals for innovations are generated together with farmers through a transdisciplinary approach. As part of this project, Agroscope’s ‘Grazing Systems’ group will test drought-resistant forage crops and grasslands, both in strip trials and large-scale trials, across a wide network of farms situated along a varied soil and climate gradient. The implementation of innovations, their monitoring, and scientific support will involve a significant amount of work combining agricultural production, advisory services and research.
