InnoTrAFS: Implementation and scaling of innovation in agri-food systems

The project aims at transforming the organic food value chain in Europe by stimulating innovation, promoting sustainable approaches, and fostering collaboration among local stakeholders. The project is fully based on the following two EU projects:

  1. the WINN-Organic project will develop a sustainable innovation ecosystem through the deployment of Organic Food Innovation Hubs across seven European countries. These hubs will act as catalysts to solve imbalances in the organic food value chain;
  2. the InnOBreed project is based on collaborative participatory breeding approaches, and will promote the development of organic fruit varieties, enhance organic breeding selection processes and identify and implement innovative solutions across different regions and local contexts.

The expected outcomes include the development and diffusion of systemic innovations within organic food value chains, an improved ecological and economic competitiveness of organic plant production, an end-user acceptance of innovative solutions related to organic food products, and a reduced use of chemical inputs, an increased biodiversity, and a greater resilience to environmental stressors.
