General: With the progressing digital transformation in agriculture and research, many scientists within Agroscope battle with growing data sets and state-of-the-art analysis. As any other research field, statistics and data science are developing at a fast pace and it is often not easy to keep up with new analysis techniques. Since the start of the 21st century more heavily research started into using machine learning approaches. In order to keep up with the development there will be a machine learning workshop on the 12th of November 2019 in Tänikon (Kursraum Messtechnik) as part of the Strategic Research Field “Smart Farming” at Agroscope and Data Scientist Fernando Perez Cruz from the Swiss Data Science Center.
the present speech: The present speech was about using machine learning approaches to model plant behaviors in greenhouse from electrophysiology data. Main results showed that it is possible to model the water, light and nutrient needs of tomato plants in greenhouse.
