SpeciesFinder: Promotion des espèces cibles présentes localement

The environmental objectives for agriculture in Europe are up to now only partially achieved. Local characteristical species are continuing to disappeare and the biodiversity is becoming increasingly uniform especially in the Swiss lowlands. The SpeciesFinder Project aims to change this situation by providing a freely available tool that combines existing spatial data (distribution data) with existing ecological information (ecology of species) and existing lists (Red List, nationally prioritized species) and making them easily accessible. The SpeciesFinder aims to increase the quality of biodiversity promotion measures by specifically promoting the locally occurring animal species. Thus it assists planners with limited species knowledge in selecting the right target species and implementing the adapted measures in their projects. Thus, the SpeciesFinder will have impacts on the political and practical level, as it changes the management of land use in order to support locally occurring species and thus protects the uniqueness of the individual regions in Switzerland.
