AviPig-Feedwise: Comportement alimentaire et modélisation nutritionnelle dans la production porcine et avicole

AviPig-FEEDWISE aims to improve pig and sow nutrition by updating feed ingredient values and nutritional requirements, while also studying feeding behavior. The project will develop a predictive model for ingestion, growth, nutrient use, and excretion, balancing productivity, welfare, and environmental impact. It supports in silico simulations to reduce animal testing and adapts existing models to Swiss-specific breeds and welfare standards.

Key tools like Feedbase will be updated to ensure accurate feed data. Nutrient composition equations will be revised to align with global standards. Feeding behavior—meal frequency, size, and duration—will be analyzed to enhance feed efficiency and animal health.

The project will also create farmer-friendly tools to estimate nutrient excretion and compare environmental impacts of different rations. A welfare assessment tool will promote better farming practices. Recognizing challenges like piglet variability, the project integrates genetic insights into nutritional models to improve sow feeding and breed resilient pigs.

Overall, AviPig-FEEDWISE supports sustainable, welfare-focused pig farming and the development of robust livestock.
