ResilBreed: Sélection de plantes utiles résistantes: outils, caractéristiques et stratégies

Achieving crop resilience is challenging due to its multifaceted nature, including multi-stress resistances, improved resource use efficiency and increased stability. This project develops tools, traits and strategies to breed for crop resilience, by i) improving breeding efficiency, ii) accelerating the development of resistant varieties, and iii) exploring more “radical innovations” that leverage co-adaptations between new genotypes with new managements. The project’s five work packages (WPs), co-financed by third-party funding, focus on developing disease-resistant crops, molecular markers, genomic resources for genebank genomics, and strategies for crop stability and adaptation. It includes a range of methods, from molecular biology, genetics and evolutionary genomics to data science. The project strengthens links between gene banks and breeding, fosters Agroscope-internal, national and international collaborations, and advances precision breeding technologies. Its broader impact includes faster responses to emerging pathogens, cost-effective breeding approaches, and strengthening Agroscope’s competitive position through sustainability- and innovation-focused breeding programs.
