Produzione alimentare sui prati adeguata al sito: fattori determinanti ed effetti
In order to reduce competition between food and feed in agricultural production, the milk and meat production of ruminants must be adapted to local conditions. Therefore, ruminants' feed intake must align with the amount of forage grown on grassland, and concentrates should only be provided from side streams. Furthermore, site-adapted milk and meat production implies that ruminant forage is cultivated on grassland rather than arable land. However, it is not yet known to what extent current milk and meat production by ruminants differs from site-adapted production at farm, regional and sectoral levels. It is also unclear which factors could shift current food production towards site-specific production. The project aims to develop indicators for measuring site-adapted food production and aims to identify structural and political factors that could support site-adapted site-adapted milk and meat production on grassland. Furthermore, it aims to analyse the economic and political impacts of site-adapted food production on grassland.
