Original title: Der Einsatz von Paradichlorbenzol (PDCB) kann Honig und Wachs belasten. In the period 1997-2002, 400 domestic and imported honeys were analysed for PDCB, 30% of the Swiss honeys contained residues, but only 6% of the foreign honeys. Overall, 15% of samples contained more than the permitted limit of 10 g/kg. The annual average content of PCDB in foundation wax was 2 mg/kg in 1991, and it reached a peak of 11 mg/kg in 1994, the average for 2000 was below 7 mg/kg. It is deduced that spring treatment of combs for wax moth control can lead to PDCB levels in the wax of 20 mg/kg, the consequent contamination of honey stored in these combs reaches a max. of 0.2 g/kg.
