Sviluppo di principi molecolari ed esame di nuove tecnologie per una selezione vegetale innovativa

InnoPlantBreeding entwickelt und prüft diverse innovative Ansätze, welche bei der Züchtung von standortangepassten, leistungsfähigen und robusten Pflanzensorten angewendet werden können. Zudem sichert das Projekt in vitro Genressourcen. Darüber hinaus werden moderne Züchtungsmethoden (Genomik, molekulare Genetik und Biostatistik) mit agroökologischen Ansätzen ergänzt.

Gesellschaftliche, ökologische und klimabedingte Veränderungen stellen immer höhere Anforderungen an die heutige Pflanzenzüchtung. Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, Züchter mit den Tools auszustatten oder diese gemeinsam mit ihnen zu entwickeln, damit sie den wachsenden Anforderungen an die Sorten von morgen gerecht werden können. Dazu wird eine breite Palette von Methoden und Ansätzen entwickelt, welche den Züchtungsfortschritt erhöhen und die Züchtung effizienter machen. Im Zentrum stehen dabei moderne Züchtungsmethoden, z.B. Genomische Selektion, markerbasierte Selektion aber auch neue genomische Technologien molekulare Genetik, sowie die Erhaltung und Nutzung bestehender genetischer Vielfalt. Vermehrt werden auch agroökologische Ansätze oder neue Methoden zur Erhöhung genetischer Variation verfolgt. Da Neue Züchtungstechnologien (NZT) wie z.B. Genome Editing den Züchtungsprozess beschleunigen können, werden im Projekt auch die Chancen und Herausforderungen von Pflanzen aus NZT im Labor, Gewächshaus und im Feld geprüft.
