Experimental Station for Viticulture and Oenology

This project, launched under the Call 42 Station d’essais, aims to promote sustainability in the wine sector by preserving natural resources and reducing agricultural inputs. The experimental station in Valais focuses on viticulture and oenology, offering solutions to the sector’s current challenges in the context of climate change. It results from a partnership (2021–2028) between Agroscope, the canton of Valais, Vitival, and AGRIDEA, created to foster knowledge transfer and the rapid application of innovations. Research projects address vine water supply, sustainable soil management, and the evaluation of disease-resistant grape varieties under different conditions. Additional studies focus on mitigating the decline of acidity in musts and wines and on improving energy efficiency in winemaking. Trials are conducted at the Grand Brûlé domain in Leytron and on experimental parcels managed by Vitival producers.
