ProMet develops Metschnikowia pulcherrima (a yeast) into a superior, sustainable biological alternative to chemical pesticides.
Current biocontrol sultions suffer from a limited survival during production/storage and inconsistent field persistence and performance. Our project aims to overcome this by extending the shelf-life of M. pulcherrima (targeting 18 months at room temperature), optimising fermentation for high yields, and creating innovative dry and liquid formulations (including a patent-pending lenticule-like method). Rigorous lab and field trials ensure efficacy and persistence on crops like apples and cherries. This will lead to a more robust, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly biocontrol product, reducing synthetic pesticide reliance worldwide.
